$20,000: Too Expensive for a Quarrel

A quarrel cost 20 thousand dollars to a couple from Estonia. The couple broke the tradition of smashing dishes and decided to take out their fury on currency cash they had at home.

When the couple finally became reconciled, they calculated the cost of the "family war" and were horrified to see that the losses made up 300 thousand Estonian crown, which was equivalent to $20,000. When the couple went to a nearby bank to exchange the notes torn to pieces, the request was rejected. In accordance with the law, damaged bank notes are liable to exchange only in case if at least one half of the note remained intact, at that the series and number of the note must be readable. But the furious couple managed to tore the notes to such small pieces that the bank refused to accept them for an exchange. Gala.net
