Do You Think This Gucci Fragrance Ad Must Be Banned?

Designer Tom Ford’s latest artistic creation for Gucci will probably make a serious competition for his own work that he did for Yves Saint Laurent before. The photograph depicts 24-year-old supermodel from Estonia Carmen Kass pulling down her knickers and showing off body hair shaved into the letter 'G.' This caused an outburst of anger amid decent members of the society. People tried to convince the Advertising Standards Authority to ban the new fashion creation.

The photograph, which was shot by well-known photographer Mario Testino, has already been called the “Pubic Enemy.” The photo shoot controversy is likely to become even more scandalous than Opium fragrance ads for Yves Saint Laurent, featuring model Sophie Dahl naked. Those ads have caused the biggest indignation for the Advertising Standards Authority ever. A spokesman for Family Education Trust claimed that such erotic advertisement results in the decrease of people’s cultural level. If fashion magazines and large companies as Gucci allow such things to happen, the majority of people will definitely think that it is acceptable too. A spokesman for the company Mediawatch stated that the companies simply tried to make people pay more attention to them. A spokesman added that it was an irresponsible way of conduct: “We can not just ignore them. The Advertising Standards Authority must guarantee the fact that an ad is decent. This can not be done with this photograph. This ad is disgusting, it should be banned immediately,” – said he. Vogue magazine wrote that the Advertising Standard Authority agreed to look into the matter of the new Gucci fragrance ad. Delfi
